Dr. Sasivimon Swangpol is Assistant Professor in the Department of Plant Science at the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University. Since 2009, she is Assistant Dean for Public Relations and International Affairs at the Faculty of Science. In 2007, she gained her Ph.D. in Biological Sciences at Chulalongkorn University and wrote her dissertation on “Phylogeny of Kluai Tani (Musa balbisiana Colla), Its Related Cultivars and Hybrids Based on DNA Analysis.” In 1991, she obtained her M.S Degree in Horticulture at the University of Florida, Gainesville, U.S.A. and wrote her thesis on “Storage Conditions and Timing of Ethylene Treatment Affect Ripening Uniformity and Marketability of Tomato Fruits.” In 1988, she earned a B.S. Honor in Botany at Chulalongkorn University. Her expertise includes the diversity of Banana species in Thailand: Morphological and Molecular, Phylogeny of the Musaceae Family, Diversity of Durian Cultivars in Thailand, History and Evolution of Cultivated Plants in Thailand, Ethnobotany, Scientific Illustrations, Botany Education; Development of Computer-Assisted Instructions in Plant Science.
