Associate Professor Dr. Woralun Boonyasurat began her higher education journey in 1988, earning a B.A. in Thai Art at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Chiang Mai University, Thailand. She went on to earn a Masters in History of Architecture at Silpakorn University in Bangkok, and then a Ph. D in Architectural Heritage Management and Tourism at the same university. She has also played an important role in the Viharn Phra Chao Pun Ong Conservation Project, she won a Merit Award for the 2008 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation Project which has been an exemplary conservation project, that actively cooperates with the local community, monks, photographer, traditional craft persons and local authorities.
In 2009 she attained the Excellence Award in Art and Culture Conservation to “The Little People in Conservation Group” by the Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage. She’s written or has been part of countless publications which highlight architecture and cultural heritage. Aside from lecturing at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Chiang Mai University, Thailand, she is also committee member for several boards and organizations, which includes the Northern Archaeology Center and the Chiang Mai City Arts and Cultural Center for the Chiang Mai Municipality, Chiang Mai world Heritage Initiative Project and Chiang Mai Creative City Network (Crafts and Folk Art)
